I never - like NEVER - actually bother to spend any real time on twilighted.net.
I post updates and teasers on the threads for my stories, but that's it.
The site's color scheme, and the enormous number of not-work-friendly banners and animated gifs that litter people's signatures, make it difficult for me to discreetly browse it at work, and I don't usually have a lot of time for aimless forum browsing when at home.
I also really dislike that site's search engine and the color scheme, and it's very iphone unfriendly, so I usually don't use it for reading stories. Fanfiction.net is actually very iphone friendly, in general. It's clearly not optimized for it, but the site is very simple and has an easy to use interface that still works quite well on the phone's built-in browser.
So yeah - the point of all this: For anyone who actually uses that site reguarly, what are some of its redeeming qualities? I've only used it enough to find the things that annoy me. What are some of the positive reasons you go there?
I'm actually going to try and bother to upload a couple of my stories over there (By the way - that two week wait thing? Yeah, that's annoying too)
I guess that's it. I'm just curious.
I actually completely agree with you. Twilighted is way too difficult to navigate, and it truly does have a terrible layout. The only redeeming value is that the fic goes through a screening process, which cuts down on the badfic. But, honestly, that's not enough of a draw for me. I just stick to fanfiction.net, and hope that a better option comes along in the near future.
ReplyDeleteTwilighted has some annoying sides. And reading on it is not easy on my eyes. For the sig thing, IIRC there's an option that allows you to turn off seeing people's sigs.
ReplyDeleteI think the two weeks thing is a bit long but it also allow them to cut down on too many fics.
One thing I like is when I want to save a fic. I mean sometimes, I go places where I don't have an access to internet and it's nice to have something to read. On that site when you click on the "table of content" page of a story, there's a tiny print icon that appears and when you click on it, it opens a new page with the fic in one single page (I can avoid doing the copy/paste...)
Just wanted to add that I love your stories :) can't wait for the next update.
