Haven't updated anything in quite a while. To say that I'm 'blocked' would be an understatement. I hit one of those exhausted, apathetic periods where I just had to step away from everything for a while.
It doesn't help that Vincent is cutting ANOTHER two teeth and wakes up every 3 hours. I swear, this little guy is gonna have in all his teeth by the time he's one.
So... yeah.
I can't say 'just wait a week, and I'll have such-and-such posted, cuz I don't see it happening right now. I still feel absolutely no desire to write. I'm just dead right now. Dead tired. Mentally numb. Whatever.
There's nothing specific wrong, per se, it's just... meh.
Anyway, Secrets and Lies got nominated for the slash awards -

It's under "6. Best Vamp"
That's all kinds of snazzy.
I actually had like 14 pages of the next chapter of it already written when I hit my big massive apathetic numb period. I really need to just finish the last two or three pages and post it. It's so close. bleh.
Oh, and apparently there's some artificial drama being concocted over me allowing hermyd to make another continuation of Heavenly Scent.
Personally I think that's ridiculous and immature. The fact that she's getting flamed for it just pisses me off.
I wrote ONE chapter. That chapter is insanely open. You could take it ANYWHERE. There's a hundred different directions a person could take it in. Having the same first chapter does not make the two stories the same. It does not make one a copy of the other.
Both stories will share a title and a first chapter, and then go in entirely different directions, creating two different and unique stories. I see absolutely no problem with that.
Unless hermyd starts plagiarizing direct words from Infinitypoet's version, there's nothing to bitch about.
Two different authors with different writing styles, different interpretations of cannon, different ideas, different plot devices. Two totally different stories.
Do people even realize how many games, movies, and books share similar or down-right identical premises, and still manage to make different and unique stories out of them?
A Bugs Life and Antz came out around the same period of time and everyone is like 'two cg movies about ants' blah blah - but the two films are totally different.
Armageddon and First Impact came out within months of each other and everyone was like 'two movies about meteors smashing the crap out of the planet' and the two got compared to each other, blah blah blah - but guess what? They're two totally different films.
There will always be things that are really similar in plot and concept because every idea has been done a thousand times already. It's the details and the differences, and the directions that the author takes it in that make all the difference.
Take Avatar. Pocahontas, and Dances with Wolves have basically the exact same overall plot, but they are not the same story. They aren't copies of each other. It's an idea, and each one takes that idea in its own direction. Sure, they share an overall concept, but they're different movies and they're all GOOD movies.
People need to pull the stick out of their asses and grow up.
