Story Statuses

So I posted a new story this last weekend.

I posted 6 chapters (technically 5 chapters, and 1 prologue) all in one shot.

I know that doing it all at once like that means crap for reviews.  I'd get a load more reviews if I'd posted it one chapter at a time, even if I only spaced them out by a day, but I really didn't want to stagger it like that.  I wanted it to be read in as solid a mass as possible.  So, oh well.  It's not really so much about the reviews anyway.

The thing is that I know I use the number of reviews a story as as a guide before I bother reading something.  I mean, if I see a story that has 10 chapters, and only 30 reviews, I assume that it probably sucks, and I pass it by.

And then there's the fact that it's a slash story, so I know a large chunk of my subscribers will pass it by, automatically.

But - oh well.

Anyway, so this new story, Secrets and Lies, was a plot bunny that has literally been scratching at the back of my brain for MONTHS.  I refused to write it down, until last Thursday, when I finally just said 'screw it' and started writing.

I wrote 85 pages in 7 days.

Seriously.

85 pages
in
7 days.

Even I have trouble believing I did that. lol...

Just goes to show how desperately this plot bunny was trying to get out.  I probably have scars in the back of my cranium from how badly this desperate little bunny was scratching away in there.

Anyway, I've got the next chapter of it about half way done, but I suspect that after I get this one out, I'll probably be officially out of steam on this story for a while and can finally get back to the others.

I actually have the next chapter of Curbed Rebellion finally started.  I've been brain-fried on that story for about 2 months now, so it's good that my mind is finally able to start working on it again.

  1. Love the story. I wondered why so few reviews with such a great one. I hope you will be able to keep the pace, but it is brutal. Great job with it. Oh yea, I pimped it on twitter. Hope you don't mind. Great job and thanks.

  2. The biggest reason for the low number of reviews is actually probably the fact that I posted 6 chapters in one shot. You get a lot more reviews if you post them one at a time. That way people comment after the last chapter, and then comment again on the next chapter, etc. When you've got a big batch, people just read through and comment at the end, so you get fewer reviews.
