I'm quite pleased that I've actually gotten so much interest from people who want to adopt my crazy plot bunnies. I like that they will not go totally abandoned :)
I am most certainly not someone to turn down someone who wants to take a crack at continuing any of them, no matter if that person has anything written or posted on their page already, or if that person is 28 or 15. Heck, one person who's just now taking a crack at Daylight Moon is doing great and she's only 16, so age is not necessarily an immediate sign of possible talent.
There have also been a fair number of people who expressed interest in a story but, who I never again heard a word from.. I don't blame them. I am also not surprised or in any way upset, if someone only writes a single chapter before dropping off the face of the planet.
I'm more than willing to provide a foundation for younger people to try their hand at writing. I'm just a bit more reluctant to make a whole new author note chapter on one of my stories to 'advertise' someone else's crack at continuing one of my stories when their shot is all of one paragraph long with really... weak grammar.
I do apologize if the person I'm speaking about is reading this and getting offended. No offense, really. Just keep practicing, okay? Keep working at it. You can only get better. You're one of five people who expressed interest in this particular story, and I'm going to wait until one or two more of them come in and make a single author note linking to all of them, yours included.
Everyone has to start somewhere. I mean, I remember in middleschool when I wrote a story that was 18 pages long I thought it was insanely long and was quite impressed with myself. lol...
Over the weekend I wrote out 56 pages of a new story that I probably won't even be able to continue, and I feel like it's hardly even started.
I've written and illustrated my own stories since I was a freaking first grader. I think my mom still has this 'book' I wrote in 2nd grade that won some sort of prize in my school district. It was illustrated with crayon. lol. In high school I even tried my hand at making & drawing japanese-style comics cuz I was all kinds of totally obsessed with manga. We all progress over time. It's all about practice and really wanting to get better at something.
I don't know where I'm going with this...
Everyone has different skill levels. I know that the people who have taken up my stories all have different styles than my own, and thats okay. Some of them get ideas and take stories in different directions than I might have, but honestly, I really didn't have any solid plans for any of these stories. That's why their abandoned. lol...
Anyway, I do really appreciate everyone who takes a crack at any of the stories and I enjoy reading them a lot. Anyone who wants to take one on, even if it's just to practice and write out one or two chapters, I'm fine with that too. I'm all for promoting practice, even if a person doesn't intend to ever finish a story.
You can't get better if you never write anything, can you?
