Songfics

Okay, so a songfic is a story that was inspired by the lyrics of some song - right?
So my husband popped a cd into the car stereo and Jonathan Coulton's Code Monkey came on and I was like 'Holy crap - this is perfect.'

Now, I don't know when or even if I'll do it, but for a long while now I've had a teeny bit of an itch to write an AH fic with a geekward.  It basically stems from that old saying that you should 'write what you know'.  It probably sounds stupid... cuz... yeah, it's supid, but I've wanted to write a fic about an Edward that works in a video game studio.  Em and Jasper would work there too. One in each department.  Art, Code, and Design.  Yeah... probably tottally stupid idea....  meh.  But I still want to do it.

FYI - I work in a game studio.  That's where the 'write what you know' addage comes into play.

But anyway, so my husband pops in a Jonathan Coulton CD and Code Monkey comes on and I'm totally screaming in my head that it would be FREAKING PERFECT for a geekward songfic.  If you've never heard the song, just go look it up on youtube.  -- go here:  link

so... yeah.  I'm such a total techie dork, and I always enjoy good geekward fics.  It's just that most of them either have him as a teen who plays D&D or WoW, or they have him as a CEO and a coder or something.  I like the gaming industry aspect becuase it's Definitely got strong geeky roots, but it's also a very artistically creative and fun industry.  And I totally know it, and I'd enjoy writing a fic in that genre.


But of course, I'm gonna force myself not to do it because I've already got too damn much stuff on my plate.  I still wanted to write it out here for the sake of writing it out somewhere :P
