So I hadn't played world of warcraft since about two months before my son was born. Being pregnant with a 3-year old was exhausting and I just didn't have the time or energy for wow. So my account sat there going unused. But we didn't cancel it or anything... we kept paying for a service I wasn't using - lol...
So it'd been like... 4 months since I even tried to log in.
I tried last weekend only to discover that my password was changed and my account banned.
After some digging, it became apparent that my account got hacked. The person who hacked it, did some stuff that got it banned.
At this discovery I expect to find all of my characters naked and penniless, since that's what account hackers usually do. They sell off all your gear and mail all the gold to their main accounts.
Sometimes they're real assholes about it and they even go so far as to delete your characters when they're done.
After dicking around with blizzards customer service people for about A WEEK, I finally get my account unbanned and am able to log in.
So here's the bizarre surprising thing...
Not only did whoever hacked my account NOT steal my shit, they actually PLAYED on my account enough to make a level 73 human death knight with freaking epic gear. o_O
So I have a new character - lol...
The exceptionally funny thing is that it's now my highest level character. My main is a level 60 shadow priest. Now I have a 73 death knight with freaking amazing gear and I have NO IDEA how to play that character lol... I've never bothered to play death knight before.... not totally sure I'll even bother to touch the character anyway. It's on a server that I don't play on, so it's not like I can mail the gear or gold to one of my mains.
Oh, that's another thing. This character is freaking LOADED. She's got like 5000 gold. That's effing sick. Ive never had more then 1000 gold in my hole freaking wow career. lol...
yeah - so there's my crazy weird mmo story for the year.
If you don't want to play the DK, you should be able to complain to Blizz, and they'll likely reset you back to what the status of your account was before you were hacked. I'm actually surprised they didn't do that anyway. A similar thing happened to a buddy of mine, and they just reset him back to what he was prior to being hacked when they unbanned his account.
